If all you had to eat was chilli pepper then it would be likely to play havoc with your digestive tract. Spare a thought then for this brave soul, who made his home in a chilli that I was about to cook with last night.

Normally I’d have just cut the chilli into hoops before dicing it. He might not have survived such an assault and would have become part of a very tasty meal. Fortunately however, last night I sliced along the pepper’s plump exterior, revealing this little fella’s hiding place. If you look closely in the photo, you can also see the entry hole to his abode which was above the line of my first slice.

So respect to Mr. Caterpillar: not only did his entire diet consist of chilli pepper, but he also set up home inside one.
