Bingo! With the inclusion of grid in my blog you’re bound to have a full house. Grid is everybody’s favourite buzzword, but not many people really know what it is or what it means. Then again, most people couldn’t tell you the difference between (a) an Internet, (b) The Internet or (c) the WWW either… so this is about grid techologies and the approach towards The Grid - a single unified grid of grids, each of which is called a grid because each uses grid technologies.

Science is not the private playground of people in white coats with clipboards. Popular Science is a good thing. The problem, however, with popular science is that it can introduce all kinds of misconceptions. Take, for example, this story, in which the BBC quotes Professor Frenk FRS as follows:

CCGrid 05 (Cardiff) Pictures

We’re all back from CCgrid 2005 in Cardiff and (I think) fully caught-up with sleep. We had a fairly strong group presence this year (as opposed to just me last year) which meant it was a far more sociable occasion. This also meant we were able to share camera duty (by borrowing Mat’s phone). Mat’s uploaded some more in-focus pics, and there’s probably more around the net.
