Just finished, doing a full re-build on my cr01 (which I just saved from the tip in time). And it works perfectly and does wash clothes to a far higher standard than my old Miele or any other machine for that matter. It takes quite a bit of effort to dismantle and that big slotted nut on the back is a pig to remove (had to borrow a tool from a fellow Dyson wise man to undo it). But once that's done, pretty smooth sailing, only those torx bolts around the edge are a pain, lots of nut release, leave for 15 mins and then TIGHTEN not loosen one at a time. This gives you a bit of leeway to then start to undo them, managed to undo all of mine in the end. The casing is then also stuck to the spider and reassess, but with more release spray and lots of screw drivers, it is possible to get the spider and the inner drum out. Note you do not need to remove the 3 torx bolts that hold the spider to the inner drum. Then just de-scale everything, clean the yellow slipping ring and put it together. Also note, the bearing is massively over engineered and isn't the normal cause of the drum seizing, just limescale build-up in the slip joint and inner and outer spiders, if your bearing seal is ok, then bearings will also be ok. They do move a bit with the drum removed -but this is normal, they rely on pressure on both sides to keep then straight. So maybe then just huge de-scaling wash, maybe all you need to fix these machines in future.

Just done a full re-build and learnt a great deal in the process,
1.
Outer door locks crack inside and the thread goes, put a bolt, nut and big washer on the end to hold the rear of the switch assy in place -fixed for 5p.
2. Very important - the door switch cable can and will get trapped behind the door switch on assembly. If it does, it will not sit flat and will work intermittently, you then push the door lock in too much and damaging it further. Make sure the cable is completely free from the switch as you tighten the screws (or nut and bolts) onto the front casing.
3. Risky-ish, remove the door lock tab from the clear out door assy and just push that in the lock assy and leave the door free. If anything then happens the machine is easy to dismantle, ps the backup strip thing from the lock never works well anyway.
4 . Give the machine a massive v hot descaling run (loads of calgon etc) wash or washes before going any further, the jamming drum is ONLY caused by silt and lime-scale build-up -not bearings etc. A good washout maybe all it needs.
5. On drum disassembly the torx bolts holding the drum inner and outer spiders are tight and seized in, put some very good nut release one or two at a time -and leave them for 15 mins then then TIGHTEN them up, they will will move a few degrees, giving you space to then undo them, adding lots of nut release as you go -carefully.

OK,

Plan B, Siemens washing machine has been brought out of early retirement, as we can't live without a washing machine!

Our CR01 Memory is in great condition, had 2 new motors, door lock assembly and outer door in August 2010, when it was serviced.

The drum was replaced in 2007, but the machine has only really been used since August 2010, so I guess it has a good few years left in it yet...

The drums aren't locked, they still contra-rotate!

However, the machine is showing F11 as a fault. I can't get to the fuse to check it, but I'm pretty sure this is what is wrong.... could be the PCB, but I'm no engineer!

So, does anyone want to purchase this machine from me?

OK, not sure if anyone visits this site anymore on a 'regular' basis, but here goes anyway!

F11 Fault on my CR01 Memory

I've tried the on/off press temperature button, then soil button, then turn it off...

The display goes back to normal, but once the machine is restarted it comes back up with F11 call Dyson

I've had the back off, and looked at the circuit board, but can't really get to it, let alone see the fuse (which is the suggested problem looking on the internet)

I'm thinking though that if the machine powers up, then it can't be the fuse...

Any thoughts?

Thanks

UGH. Why must we "sync" our palm style calendars with anything? Why are we forced to be tethered to the internet just to keep our schedules arranged? I like the palm calender, I can color code the family and keep tabs on who is where, get reminders for appts. etc. Its the only calendar I need. So again I ask, Why must we setup a smartphone calendar to "sync" with exchange or google? I dont use the calendars in either, I dont use gmail, and outlook is just for email at home as it will not sync with work (nor will work allow outside access). I've tried the companion link to keep my palm desktop calendar and phone calendar synced but the new palm version removed the color coding except by "calendar" why/what was that purpose? why cant anyone build a calendar app for smartphones/android device that is simple a calendar you can keep your appts in that is electronic, does not require syncing via web (cable sync to something on computer would be nice for backup copy)to anyother program???? Hello ex-palm programer/developers if the android market is open source...... what happen to K.I.S.S. for calendar apps???

Dear Lesley,

At dinner this evening with my parents, Jim and Vera Gowans, we were chatting about our happy days in Swansea in the 1950s and 60s. They used to have super parties, and they recalled their dear friends Harry and Edna Breeze, whom I could also clearly remember, both at our home and theirs in Killay. My father, who also worked for Wales Gas and served in the RAF, mentioned that Harry was made an MBE. Intrigued, I checked on the internet and came across this site. It was amazing to hear Harry's voice again!

With very fond memories and best wishes,

Glyn Gowans

Better still Craig than a magnet..........to get my point try the strongest of magnets in close proximity to a fine stream of tap water and see the effect.....absolutely nothing but then try combing your hair and then put the comb close to the stream of water and maybe you will appreciate that you have wasted your money buying a magnet or come to think of it, the money you would waste buying an electronic treater device. Respond to me if you are sincere of learning the best product to adopt.

I found this on which.co.uk (which? magazine's website) when I searched for "Water Softeners"

Thank you for your search in this area. Chemical based Water Softeners work with little variation, but electric and magnetic treatments have little scientific evidence to support their effectiveness. Which? is a non-profit organisation and regretfully testing these products would be beyond our resources, due to the length of time required to test and the cost."

I think this clearly expresses Which?'s opinion on electronic/magnetic water treatment - i.e not worth buying.

our dyson cro2 washer has just died( the drum still turns freely) think its electrical as the outer door is open( but is closed) and now after dismantling it no power on display?
Have just ordered a new mielle...which to be fair isnt a patch on the dyson..what a shame they stopped making these fantastic washing machines..we will miss it very much!
Anyway the machine looks brand new so will sell it on to whoever wants the whole machine.

If you get 20 washes out of it it's cheaper and more convenient than a launderette. Good luck!

Thinking of buying a CR02 second hand for £100.00, today, to replace dying Bosch. Will I be doing the right thing? It's had two owners and I don't know how frequently it was used. I'd value your comments!
