Dyson, Rocks.

Dyson, Rocks.

Dearest friends, family & idle passers by, the news about the washing machine is good.

Steve the Dyson engineer arrived on schedule and gave it a thorough once over. For those not familiar with the Dyson customer service policy, it’s pretty cool. If the machine is out of it’s two year warranty period, the cost of a service is fixed at £55 for a vacuum or £85 for a washing machine - this includes all parts.

What’s less commonly known is that Dyson are constantly improving the design of their machines, so during a service call it’s not uncommon for components to be upgraded.

Inside the CR01So, Steve not only cleared the blockage (which wasn’t a coin it was sludge), he also upgraded the soap dispenser, the lock, the coin trap, the filter, and the control software; and he’ll be back next week to replace the front panel, which has a small chip out of it. He even took this photo of the inside of our CR-01 and emailed it to me (after I expressed regret at not having a digital camera with which to take such a picture).

Now, you might think £85 for this kind of service is pretty darn good. I certainly do. So you can perhaps imagine my mild astonishment when Steve told me that because (a) the sludge build up was not something we could have avoided and (b) Dyson would have come to see me about the free upgrades soon anyway… the whole service was free.

So, a message to everyone at Dyson - you rock - have a nice weekend.

just found this site as was looking to buy one for spares as bought mine second hand 2 years ago never gone wrong but thought that spares would be a rarity! Not worried now but think I might as well treat it to a service!! I did the trick all you have to do is power the machine on and as soon as you have turned it on press the temp button straight away then the soil type button and it should give a long beep then show the info!

I too have just found this site & also just heard that Dyson have stopped selling washing machines :-O I’ve never really had any problems with my top of the range dadio so haven’t had to contact Dyson about it. It’s a got a minor display glitch, where it sometimes has a line of dead pixels, but it’s never impacted our use of it.

I was actually looking around t’internet for current prices, as we’ve just moved house, have a fitted kitchen now, and nowhere for the Dyson to go :-( I was planning on selling it (reluctantly). Don’t know if that’s going to be hard now. Anyone know of someone after one, or a good place to find a Dyson enthusiast who might be after one?

I emigrated from the UK and brought my Dyson with me. I no longer have the
option of having an engineer service my machine. Whenever I get an error code,
I switch the machine off, press and hold the ‘temp’ button and then press the
‘on’ button whilst still holding the ‘temp’ button. I then release both at the
same time and then press the ’soil’ button. I then switch the machine off and
turn it back on and that uusally does the trick. Does anyone else have other
    ‘at home’ solutions?

Hi! I am a recent owner of a secondhand CR01 Memory and have to say its fab! One of my friends recommended them because they handle such a large volume load such as a duvet or lots of sheets.

Anyway, in an attempt to lodge some strength of feeling with Mr Dyson, I have created an online petition. Please sign it and pass on to anyone who owns or wants one of these fabulous machines. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/contrarotator/

Btw there are some mixed instructions on this thread to get the Diagnostic code. You need to start with the machine off. Press and hold in the Temp button. Turn power on. Release Temp then quickly press Soil. It will return the code. My secondhand machine was 471f2f5f15v131 so I am very happy to see its hardly been used!

    I’ve got F11… Call Dyson…
Previous issues have been dealt with so professionally (and free!!) so I’ll have no hesitations in calling them in the morning.

Had the CR01 Memory for nearly 6 years, and I’ve had the usual ‘upgrades’ plus about 18 months ago, when it ground to a halt, Dyson replaced both drums free of charge..

Where else can I get service like this? I doubt you’d find it anywhere!! Keep up the good work Dyson (oh, and please produce a CR03…)

Well, it’s the 22nd June, the Dyson Engineer has been, and I no longer have the
    F11 fault!

To make it all the better, it didn’t cost me a penny either!

At the same time, he very kindly changed the door latch (which apparently was
    faulty)

As ever, the service was fantastic

I’m so glad that I bought the CR01 memory, it was well worth the £900 or so I
    paid for it.

    danny Says:

before dyson, washing machines and vacuums were made in the uk. then dyson stole the market, proclaiming everythig could be made in the uk if you knew what you were doing. the other companies failed to compete and jobs went, before dyson announced he didnt know how to make money here after all and production moved to asia.
before dyson = jobs, after dyson….
