UGH. Why must we "sync" our palm style calendars with anything? Why are we forced to be tethered to the internet just to keep our schedules arranged? I like the palm calender, I can color code the family and keep tabs on who is where, get reminders for appts. etc. Its the only calendar I need. So again I ask, Why must we setup a smartphone calendar to "sync" with exchange or google? I dont use the calendars in either, I dont use gmail, and outlook is just for email at home as it will not sync with work (nor will work allow outside access). I've tried the companion link to keep my palm desktop calendar and phone calendar synced but the new palm version removed the color coding except by "calendar" why/what was that purpose? why cant anyone build a calendar app for smartphones/android device that is simple a calendar you can keep your appts in that is electronic, does not require syncing via web (cable sync to something on computer would be nice for backup copy)to anyother program???? Hello ex-palm programer/developers if the android market is open source...... what happen to K.I.S.S. for calendar apps???

No idea! I gave up on the Palm V due to its lack of support. The company (Palm) has lost many devoted followers who now wouldn't dream of touching the Pre after seeing their previous investment so poorly developed and maintained.

FWIW - I've been cheerfully using goosync for quite a while now. It's worked very well. The only reason I'm even considering changing is I don't love the "tasks" implementation. I'd like to be able to give things multiple categories for example. (home *and* computer for example)

But yes, goosync is a great service and the support has been quick and friendly.

In response to <a href="http://boakes.org/google-calendar-palm-sync/comment-page-1/#comment-16309" rel="nofollow">Rich</a>:

<blockquote>I’ve tried CompanionLink and found it to be utterly useless. Hitting the synchronize button just pops up an error box that says:Failed to load ClxGoogleCalendar.dll</blockquote>

In order for you not to receive this error message you need to install Microsoft.NET Framework Version 2.0 or higher, thought you should know in case still want to use it.

Help, I love the google calendar and have several people at work using it. They are all hooked but are thinking of moving to something different because it doesnt link to their palms. When is the sync going to be avaialble to users.

I'm with you. I wish Google Calendar would sync with my Palm Treo 700p, or even with Palm Desktop.

Its tough, found other solutions. So far GooSync working pretty well. Wish Google had done this themselves. Hats off to GooSync for beating them to it.

Over-the-air sync between Google Calendar and Palm Calendar.

Now also syncs Google Contacts with Palm Contacts.

Sorry, I forgot to say it's for iCal to Google, but you can download the iSync Conduit setup where you sync your device to iCal instead of the Palm Desktop.

Goosync is good if you paid for the internet package, which on my Treo I didn't. I just need to be able to sync from my desktop to Google calendar. I found one solution but it's pricey. The 15 day demo worked though seamlessly. Check it out if you really don't care about the $25/year subscription or $65 lifetime price tag.

I was skeptical of trying GooSync but I finally bought the full version and it works GREAT for me with my Treo 700p. I have also used the Google Sync with the Blackberry 8830 and that is a great product. It would be nice if Google developed this for Palm, but in the meantime, I would try GooSync.

I agree. So many Palm users and a good solution doesn't exist to sync with Google.

I'm not sure what to do now. Goosync no longer works on my Treo even with a Hard Reset and multiple tech support calls. SyncML just hangs. Also, Companion Link doesn't support Palm Desktop 6. I may need to switch to Blackberry (which has much more support for Google-syncing) because if I can't access my secretary's calendar, my Treo is useless.

Hey all, I have come up with a little work around for syncing my palm. i subscribe to my gcalendar through ical and then have an ical calendar that i post at icalx.com which i subscribe to at gcal...any appointments that i put in my palm i can then move to the appropriate gcalendar. it's not perfect but it's free and works.

I just tried out Companion Link and it worked pretty well... Multiple google calendars translated into different categories in my Treo 650. 14 day trial is almost up... It's the best I've found so far so I'll probably buy it.

I chose Yahoo calendar in favour of Google for this very reason. It DOES sync with my palm - and has a task list too as a bonus. You install a free program from Yahoo's website that lets you configure the Palm hotsync. And you can create a Yahoo home page that includes your next week's events from your calendar (but not tasks, unfortunately - you have to go into the calendar itself to see those).
It appears to sync with pocketPC 2003 devices too, but not Windows mobile 5, unless anyone can correct me.
