Look Around You – Series 2

The second series of Look Around You begins next week: Monday, BBC 2 – 10:00 pm

This episode: Music

Look Around You

Set in 1980, the team find out what music will sound like in the year 2000.

Nuff said: don’t miss it.

Review:
Based on programme one it appears that the second series will be comprised of occasionally humourous moments interspersed with interesting and memory-sparking presentation – similar to series one, but with the same amount of humour spread over a longer programme. This is not necessarily a bad thing but some of the comedic value has been lost.

The “Music 2000″ programme somehow crossbred the general wonderment of the first series with some of the discomfort of Alan Partridge or The Office, I forsee the whole uncomfortably-live feeling being fully exploited. There was a nice reprise of the “thanks ants” joke from the Water episode of series one; “Thanks Tchaikovski. (Thaikovski)”, but even that, coupled with the truly wonderful graphics couldn’t fully make up for the over-clever way that guests were introduced to the programme – it appears that there was maybe enough content for a 20 minute show that had been stretched to fill 30 minutes because of too many effects or purposeful prevarication.

Review:
Programme 2 – The thanks joke is becoming a catchphrase: “Thanks Doctor. (Thoctor).”
