rdfx (the x being the same x as in x rays – i.e. unknown) may be going down the road shelly and danny discuss. for the uninitiated, it was born out of an attempt to use rdf as part of a larger ubiquitous information service browser which would combine data retrieved from disparate sources.
the initial pre-alpha release was a single lump of code; since then it’s been almost entirely re-written and refactored so that it is now is a suite of eclipse plugins (i.e. highly modular). since version 3.0 of eclipse, the “rich client platform” has meant it has the potential to be released as a small stand alone browser.
so far, a lot of the core data management code has been written (in java & using jena). it has a small abstraction API so other repositories can be substituted. and a callback mechanism so the view modules can be alerted to changes in the model (sepia-tones and heart flutters are a possibility)… there are currently three rudimentary views on the data and volunteers to improve the existing modules or add new ones are most welcome.
