Our Dyson Washing Machine is Poorly

Close friends will be disturbed to hear that our Dyson CR-01 washing machine is not well. We think it might have fallen foul of a few sneaky coins which somehow infiltrated the wash yesterday.

The symptoms are a failure to expel water from the machine; it just sits there and sulks. The usual pumping sound is nowhere to be heard, however, I can still drop the outlet hose to ground level and drain the machine that way.

I called the Dyson help number and was honestly stunned by how good the service was. The introductory message was crisp, clear and swift, the options short and sensible, and the queue was negligible. The representative who took my call was friendly, capable and booked a man to come and look at the machine tomorrow.

Wow.

Dyson customer service rocks. Hopefully the Dyson repair man rocks too. More news as it happens.

    It must be contagious my Work Horse CR01 broke down today trapping the washinginside and the door release won’t release. Called the repair dept sadly due to REMOTE LOCATION - Aberdeen City - Oil Capital of Europe I cannot get a service engineer until ???? uncertain. Still less ironing to do.

    My dyson CR -01 is poorly too. Bra wire worked its way through and pierced a tube and now it has a leak. Rang the engineers today and they were brilliant. Good service. Oh and if i couldnt wait until Thursday they would try and arrange an earlier date. Im ok with Thursday partly because it means no ironing and partly because they were so nice it was.. just OK no problem. Well done Dyson won’t be using any other machine. Had my dyson for 4 years and this is first problem (which is my fault)

    The headline missed off the word “made“.

    Interesting that the Dyson apologists can’t see that the thing shouldn’t have broken down in the first place and focus on the ‘wonderful’ after sales service.

    No Wendy it is not your fault! You should actually expect a washing machine to wash your clothes!

    Instead think how poorly engineered the thing must be when something as flimsy as a bra wire pierces a tube!

    I suggest you next time you look at a quality machine.

    Well i called Dyson customer care, at 6pm… Monday.. got an answer nearly straight away, very pleasant women answered helped me for my cr01 washing machine, I think its bearings and the display is loosing pixels, no prob, will this Wed be ok, or next Wed after xmas. Fantastic, so I picked after, lets see if the engineer, is as good. On the note that someone made about buying a quality machine, I think everyone would agree, that any machine can break down, I am in the trade and have sold all from miele, hotpoint, aeg etc, most are owned by a few companies under different banners, and its the way we are treated, informed and charged for a repair that also do the company justice…

    on a note about machines, this model I have is over 6 years old second hand, too

    Dear Dave,
    Your message on the 13th dec 2006 I found very interesting.
    You clearly have not had much experience with bra’s. The wire from a bra can definately do some damage when it becomes loose. I say blame the bra manufacturers not Dyson washing machines.
    You a so grumpy!

    Well…looks like a lot of happy Dyson customers here, so here’s my tale.

    I bought a brand new CR-01 flowcheck aarounf 2002/3. Since the machine was only a few months old, it developed problems with the door locks, the machine either stops mid-way through a wash cyle or refuses to start at all.

    Yes, the Dyson helpline can be fast and the operatives helpful, but not always so.

    You see my machine has broken down no less than eight, yes thats eight times with the same fault of the door locks, yet as my call to Dyson today revealed, ‘it is NOT a known issue’…and I was born yesterday.

    I would certainly not be purcahsing a Dyson machine again, and this is impossible anyhow as they are not manufactered any more - I wonder why if they are so great?

    Dyson’s ‘engineer’ was an insult to his trade, banging on the machone like a builder knocking down a wall, and using a drill to remove screws, and I don’t mean an electric screwdriver either, _ apparantly this ‘engineer’ is well known to be heavy handed by Dyson…

    As for the comments ‘in the trade’ I am an engineer and if I was part of Dysons research and design team, I would be ashamed of what they have produced.

    I have had a nightmare from month 1 with my CR01. For 7 years I
    have encountered small holes in my clothes but couldn’t put my
    finger on why. I have finally sussed, as of yesterday, gave Dyson
    the chance to ring me urgently, as yet they haven’t. I got used to
    releasing the door myself until finally that gave up the ghost and
    the engineer was called out to that last month, I have had so many
    bits replaced on mine you wouldn’t believe. I bought 2 and its the
    worst £2,400 I have ever spent. I agree with Dave, other machines
    don’t have problems with bra wires, this machine has problems
    with zips and everything, the wire is meant to go into the coin
    trap!

    I would never buy another Dyson washing machine.
    The first one I had went wrong within the first 2 weeks, after 2 new motherboards and a lot of phone calls, they finally replaced the faulty machine.
    The new one went wrong within a month, motherboards, door etc.
    Finally, the engineers were instructed by Dyson to upgrade all CR01’s to CR02 on the next call outs for the faults, As too many faults were being reported, which meant that if your machine came up with a fault, you turn it off then back on again for it to right itself.
    I have now had my Dyson for 4 years, and let the guarantee run out as I am sick of paying Dyson £100 a year for a machine I paid £1000 for, which should have a 20 year life.
    There is one button that no longer works, and when it has a bad day it decides to only go on a delicate wash and continuously beep for 20 minutes.
    Dyson knew there was a design fault with these machines, hence why they no longer manufacture them in this country, paying for engineers to fix the machines when nearly all of them are going wrong, was not cost productive.
    Even the engineer told us he is on first name terms with most Dyson washing machine owners in the area because he visits them so often.
    Never again, I have even got rid of my cylinder Dyson hoover and bought a George instead.

    I often wondered why i never see dyson washing machines any more your site has now informed me as to why! they were obviously poorly made like their vacuum
    cleaners
