I bought my cro1 dyson washing machine in January 1999 sadly the engineer came out today and said the drum was gone and dyson is unable to get the parts. I'm devestated I loved that machine it was great and gutted I can't replace it or get it fixed. I've now ordered the new LG 11kg capacity washing machine hoping it will do the same job but I doubt it. Gutted.....

Cool - stick your learning on a blog somewhere and I'll link to it. I've heard so many stories recently of machines failing after a few months, our CR01 is becoming better and better value by the day. If a solution to bearing failure can be found, then that'll be very good news.

I like the idea of dual drum as I'm into engineering so I looked on ebay and saw a few broken ones this led here to see if they're any good.... Now I'm not so sure.
In the past I was recommended to buy a hot point as they're very cheap to fix. I found a bust one in a skip, replaced the motor brushes and used it for 7 years No faults! Brushes went again so now using a candy given to me which is rubbish.

In my previous job we used Miele machines and they are absolutley the best and no dearer than dyson by the sound of it.
If you really need to thrash the machine buy a miele commercial about £1400 not very flashy (ie not many program options) but you will never need another. We fitted some 20 years ago and they're still going in a college with many washes a day.Get one with a dump valve that drops the water straight into the drain to avoid pump problems as it dosen't have one and just drops coins etc into the soil pipe! Using a Miele in a domestic house I'd be disappointed if it went wrong once every 5 years.
(I don't work for miele by the way, I build hovercraft)

It's a shame dyson products are a so poorly made as the idea is laudable, I like the concepts. I do have a dc01 vacuum still from when they came out in the 90's still working!!! with no major spares required just the odd bit of plastic broken (no suprise there).
It's not a patch on the morphy richards bagless I rescued the other day (blocked solid with kiddy toys and dog hair) I stripped it and in 10 mins it was working and what an animal, 1900watt, practically sucked up the carpet compared to the already good dyson.

On the subject of drum bearings, I would take them out and go to a bearing supplier like BSL or Wyco, I would be amazed if they couldn't sort you out.
