Phone Spam from Satellite Direct UK
I just got another call from Satellite Direct UK telling me that my Sky warranty needs renewing. Oddly enough, nothing has changed since their last call. We are still registered with the TPS so it’s unlawful for them to phone us and we still don’t have a Sky box, so it’s definitely not out of it’s warranty period, which they again suggested. Satellite Direct UK you are not morons: stop ignoring the TPS.

Ihave had this same problem they took out 2 payments of £72 in 1 week on DD been on the phone they kept me on hold for 35 mins each time still no joy have now contacted the fraud dept at my bank, so people be aware cancel your DD to them.

I had a problem with satellite direct in oct 07 when they took out of my account over £108. After getting in touch with them they said it was for 25 monthly payments that i have missed. I told them that i had not got cover with them and they told my that i still had cover and so i couldn’t get my money back. I again cancelled my account and could not get a refund. I have just noticed on my account that 2 days ago they took 1 months payment out of my account. As they did this before it was followed by the large bill. I have been to back to cancell direct debit but i cannot get in touch with the company. Be careful as if they have you bank details they will try again.
I know someone that worked for these, she has, this week taken redundancy, bet she wont even get paid, let alone get redundancy money, and loads have lost their jobs. They have started up a new company. My friend was offered work with them.

Don’t know if it’s them but watch out for Satellite Customer Care Ltd. They ripped me off claiming they were from Sky and warranty was due for renewal. We had no warranty I later discovered from my hubby. They said it was £65 then took £80 out the account and wrote saying they will take a further £80 out next month…Cancelled the card so I hope that does the trick. Their address on the letter is Norfolk House.1-2 Beach Road, Littlehampton, but anotehr website for the area has comments saying they are a scam too and they are listed under 40 Beach Road too.

had my sky+ box replaced by sat direct two days before winding up order enforced. my original box was an 80g hard drive with anytime tv. it was replaced with one with half capacity and no anytime tv. emailed them next day, never got a reply until today 3rd. the company was now satcover and they said they were going to replace digibox with same as i had before. engineer coming between 12 n 2. watch this space
Please note that having also had 65.00 taken unlawfully from our account, Lloyds TSB advises me that while it does return your money it will claim it back from you if they are unsuccessful getting your money from Satellite Direct. I noted also today (3rd July) that SDUK appear to have installed an answerphone message on there telephone number where it did not exist yesterday. I also hope that the law is also gunning for the company secretary there as well as she could not have been oblivious to what has been going on.
Have contacted my Bank re fraudulent debits from my bank
account 4 x £72.00 totalling £288.00 from Satellite Direct. It appears that I have been conned.By checking up on this Company for details I came across all your comments and now realise I am a victim of the same

just to warn you all satellite direct closes on weds 8th july all phone lines have been cut off and they have lost their direct debit facility they are now trying to get people to pay by credit card so look out you have been warned! all staff have been laid off and we have to reapply for our jobs and take a pay cut what a conman of a boss he is.

i would like to bring to your attention another scam by satellite uk ltd could be the same company under a different name dont know how they got my details but have been taking £20 out of my account each month. his name is david lane could be the same ” dave ” they are not answering the phone and they claim to be a member of the federation of small businesses which they are not.
I agree with you vik as I have tried to contact Satellite uk ltd on several occasions (as I have two sky boxes not working) with no luck.
Their phones just ring out but what I am worried about is I paid with my debit card and they have all my card details. I have checked my account and nothing at the moment is amiss but I will have to be vigillant.

Satellite Direct UK have taken money out of my bank account for the second time without my consent. Last year when they did it I rang them and was told all my details would be removed from their system, but once again last week they took more money. When you phone them no one ever answers the phone. My bank is trying to get my money back for me but I am so angry. Should I contact the police?

i think he has took a lot of ppl on i am sitting here now with a cheque in my hand which i got from this company and surprise surprise yes it bounced .
this clown must think ppl r stupid he has sent me another cheque and surprise surprise it bounced right back to me thankfully i had stopped the dd i had set up so he wont be gettin any more of my money .
On the 16th June 09 I had £129.00 taken by Direct Debit from my bank account by Satellite Direct UK without authorisation, they have obviousely held on to my bank details for over two years after I cancelled the contract with them. Their telephone numbers are unobtainable and one is an 0871 number which has a recorded message telling you all their opperators are currently busy and you will be answered shortly, but they do not.I was held in the que for almost 30 minutes, cannot wait to seee my telephone bill. It concern’s me that company’s can use your account details years after withdrawing your business with them.

Reporting it to the police would be a good start.
My Bank has been quite helpful in this matter and refunded the £129.00 back into my account, they are investigating Satellite Direct’s claims against people’s accounts. This David Reynold’s needs to be located and arrested for fraud.
The big question is, are Direct Debit’s a secure way of paying our bill’s.

Although companies house has his address as Ditchling, hes not lived there for months. He lives [EDIT: address removed] with his new girlfreind and shes the one whose been spending all the money getting there dream home furnished with your money. The staff arent getting wages at the moment yet there getting slagged off by his girlfreind for not working hard enough!!!! Must be as shamless as he is

Thanks for all the posts here, thanks to you all I found out that I wasn’t likely to get my £117 back that I’ve been chasing for since March. I noticed the money had been taken, cancelled the direct debit as I couldn’t get through on the phone, they then called me! Said it was due to a decimal place being moved that shouldn’t have been on the money collection computer (so they took £129.90 instead of £12.90) and they said they’d refund me. Anyway after about 6 letters and few emails and numerous attempts to call them, I’ve now found out the company has gone bust.
So I contacted my bank (Lloyds TSB). They will refund my money and then try to claim it back from Satellite Direct/SatCover if they can. If they can’t they’ll reclaim it back from me, and then I get to try and chase for it again.
I’ve worked for accountants who deal with insolvency, so I know that the liklihood of us getting our money back is nil, HMRC and the banks etc will come first.
If Lloyds TSB have no luck, then I’ll try the HMCS moneyclaim route.

I have knowledge of both this company (never involved at a business level thankfully) and the Direct Debit system.
Firstly, the company is rotten. Do not let any of the so called staff tell you otherwise. Increased amounts have been taken consistently and fraudulently on too many occasions to mention. There are checks and balances with all such payment systems, and these are deliberately overridden. Do not let the staff tell you otherwise, it is a plain and simple con. Ask yourself how many times can a decimal point be in the wrong place? Answer, every time they need some more cash. The principle here is that a certain % of people will never notice or claim & the company is quids in as a result.
They also re-instate Direct Debit mandates without your permission, which again is fraudulent once payments are taken. If you have ever given your DD details in the past, then you run the risk of a mandate being re-instated without your permission.
Now Satelite Direct have been wound up, do not believe that this is the end of it. His track record is that a new company will appear, and you may see a new instruction being set up again. The only advice here is to check your bank statements regularly and seek an immediate indemnity claim from any company you don’t recognise once you’ve called the bank for further details. Check with the bank first, as many companies outsource their payment functions, and you may not always recognise a Direct Debit payment name.
You need to complain and not just on here. Complain to your bank regarding the DD instructions, if funds have been removed, insist on an indemnity claim – this is what the Direct Debit guarantee is all about and it is there to protect you against precisely this sort of thing happening . If the bank don’t play ball INSIST, it’s your right. Complain to the police if funds have been removed, and also complain to your local trading standards department. [Emphasis added - Admin]
There are reputable alternatives to Sky warranty cover and this one rotten company should not cloud your judgement on all. I’m always in favour of independant firms providing the big boys with competition, it’s healthy and keeps prices down. However, do your homework first, ring the company, see what their response is like before you committ to anything.

I have been insured with Satellite Direct for about 2 years. I had no worrying concerns about the company until i got a phone call from a lady called Carol from a different company called Satellite Assured Ltd offering me extended warranty cover. I explained to her I was already covered with satellite direct and had a fault but was having problems getting through to them and the lines were dead. Carol then went on to tell me she had spoken to a few people and they said they had problems getting through too and that they were taking random amounts of money out of customers accounts. She told me she heard rumours that Sat direct had a winding up order, but she asked me to try and contact them again and judge for myself what is going on (a lot of this has been confirmed on this website.) She also left me her number to call back on if i had no luck and if i wanted the cover with them, they would sort an engineer for me.
So the next day i tried calling sat direct, i was on hold for nearly 2 hours!!! until i gave up. I don’t think anyone would have answered! and my phone bill is going to be sky high! I then decided to call Satellite Assured (got through pretty much straight away!) and asked to speak to Carol, i was at the end of my tether and wanted my sky fixed, i asked her to help me. So i had taken the cover with them and 2 days later an engineer was round and my sky is now working perfectly. I have now cancelled my direct debit with sat direct and instructed the bank to make sure they never take money from my account.
I suggest any of you out there who are with Satellite Direct consider changing to Satellite Assured. There number is 08700600250 so helpful

I calleed Satellite Direct to fix my system after paying my yearly subscription fee 3 months ago and their telephone just rings and rings and no-one answers they are crooks – fraudsters this silly government should get to grips with the Directors of companies like these who rip people off. The Laws are an Ass he will set-up and do this again once this company ceases trading. The CPS – Justice System and Jack Straw are the people who can change things but they dont. Do not touch total cover uk!!! took 3 weeks to send an engineer!! and they took my box away that whole time!! was with satellite direct before and changed over, wish i didn’t. think i will cancel my payments to total cover uk and go with that company that sarah recommends above satellite assure. i can’t be doing with paying for a service that doesn’t provide!!

Was this once a reputable company gone bad,I’ve been with them since 2006 even had to use them once with no problems even gave me a new digi. box. I’s only this week because I was trying to contact them to cancel my subscription and couldn’t that on further investigation that I discovered this site. They also took £72 out of my account in March my husband noticed at the time but thought it was the annual subscription but that wasn’t due till next month. I was at my bank yesterday but I will go back today armed with the information I have learned from this web site.
My Elderly mother has been scammed by these people. They set up a direct debit for £6.50 which she cancelled, then the cheeky sicko set up another one without instruction from her. We are now in touch with the Fraud Dept at the bank with a view of retrieving the money ‘stolen’! This man needs stopping and jailing for a very long time before he is fraudulent again.

The Bank will reclaim under indemnity claim – these people are now trying to claim d/d’s under a new name ‘Play’ – have blocked this d/d and recalled payment. They have also tried to claim £49.99 on two different occasions for broadband and telephone service, which I don’t have. This man has got to be prosecuted.

Until March 2009 I was paying monthly and then they took 10 months . When I eventually got through to a person , I was talked into paying annually (at 10 months rate) and thought I had a reasonable deal. About 6 weeks later they took another 10 months , so after ringing and getting promises I was patient . Last week (about 9th July) I got a message saying their number was no longer in use. I contacted my bank (HSBC) and they have returned my £65 and promised to chase the robbing bas****S.
well what a fool i feel,they have been taking money out of my account for 5 years,and i have tried everything to get hold of them and look they aint there.I feel sick to my stomach with what this so called man has done to all of us.

This crook has taken money out of my account 2 years after I stopped the direct debit. My bank said the only way to avoid further problems is to close the account and open a new one. Once he has your details he will keep starting up a new direct debit with your bank under whatever company he becomes, the banks cannot stop this happening.
They will only refund for so long !!.
Hi Gray, the exact terms may be more involved but the basis of the Direct Debit Guarantee is that your bank will continue to have to pay. DD saves (and therefore earns) the banks millions of pounds every year. Any fraud perpetrated though DD is their responsibility, and it’s in their interests to put their largest heaviest boots on to stamp it out because it’s their profit that is being eroded, not your money (providing you keep monitoring your accounts for fraudulent transactions)!
I also had £65 taken from my account instead of £6.50. After many phone calls they said that the computers had a problem, and that I would get a refund. After many more phone calls and after 8 WEEKS I eventualy got a refund. This was 3 months ago and I have just checked my bank account and they have set up another DD with just the phone number + play in front.

I just upgraded my Sky box to HD and have just noticed a Direct Debit on my bank to SATCOVER (same company as Satdirect)whom I had never heard of, let alone set up a Direct Debit with, I called Sky and they didn’t know who they were and suggested I cancel the DD, which I did, but they couldn’t tell me where they got my bank details from. In my opinion it could only have been from someone at Sky, how else would they know when to set up the payments? This seems to be a bigger fraud operation than just conning people out of money on the phone..
David Reynolds has just debited money from my account, I have never heard of this company, I dont have SKY therefore would have no need for a cover plan. The direct debit was set up without my knowledge or consent. It was set up on the 19th June (the day Louise cited as them winding up) This piece of scum is still at it, be on your guard. I have got my money back through my bank, but the question has to be, how the hell has he got my bank details and set up a direct debit without my signature!!!

Same problems here as so many have mentioned above.
I have instructed my bank not to accept any new DD’s or SO’s from any source without first contacting me.
That way there is no way for them to take more money. I would suggest this as a possible solution rather than having to open a new account with all the accompanying hassle.
I have done the same thing. But I have Privacy Guard which the bank operates and nothing can be set up on your accounts without the bank contacting you
We have been conned by this company and I am now starting to wonder if this has been going on longer than we have realised, does anyone know if I can claim money back from years ago of need be? I have a nagging feeling that something is not right from 3-4 years ago.
By the way, our bank has given us our money back both times money have been taken out this year and they have also cancelled the direct debit we had set up. Not that it seems to help though….but at least we now know to keep an eye on it.

from Data companies. If at anytime you have completed a survey or anything alike and have not requested for your info to be kept private it is then sold on. People need to take some responcibilty for there personal details. Only people with sky is then passed onto satlink. If you are on TPS and your details have been passed on in this way there is no way for Satlink to know. All emplyies have a clear script which states that they are NOT from sky! They are in no way encouraged to take advantage of the fact that some people assume they are. Calls are recorded and i personally have witnessed employies being sacked for implying they are from sky. They provide a good service for a good rate. It is more cost effective than domestic and general which is who Sky use. Sky DO NOT provide there own warrenty after the initial 12 months. I myself refused to complete a sale if i thought that the customer didn’t understand what was going on and always encouraged them to seek advise from another friend or family member. I think that if you are going to give your details over the phone you need to take more responsibilty, i on many accasion have spoken to customers who seem to know exactly who we are and have taken out the service only to realise that they have 4/5 warrenties rrunning at the same time. If you recieve a call to renew or take out any new service you should look up the paperwork before doing anything else.
I don`t suffer fools lightly but twice this company took out
£49.99 in error, have got the 1st lot back , but I don`t think I will get the 2nd one back ,called them on the 9th July , and they said I would get it back within a month ,and guess what I havn`t received

However…
I am interested in exposing the shoddy sales methods and allegedly multiplicitous direct debits set up by apparently related companies, but I will not allow my site to either become a mouthpiece for an ignorant mob. The point of the justice system is that it is based on the premise that someone is innocent until proven guilty. You and I don’t necessarily know all the facts, or whether any of the people named throughout these articles have intentionally acted in such a way as to defraud you, and the other readers – this includes Dave Reynolds.
Your threat of physical violence is probably unlawful. Ask yourself this: if the Justice System doesn’t fail you, and there is a thorough investigation into the practices of these companies: and if my server logs are requested by the police*, how silly will you feel if it turns out Dave Reynolds is innocent but you end up with a conviction?

I had Sat/direct cover three years ago and cancelled it and found out that on the 14th AUGUST 2009 that they tried to open up a dirct debit on a company called SOMETHIN CORPORATION with my bank. As i check my account daily they did not succeed.I contacted the number given to me by my bank and a firm called Documentrix had been instructed by SOMETHING CORPORATION to collect the DD on their behalf. I have informed my banks fraud department and also lodged a complaint with the police. Take Care///// these people seem to be up to no good is putting it mildly
Companies House doesn’t list a firm called Documentrix. Any other clues to who they might be?
According to the forum on moneysavingexpert.com, they are called Documetric. They are a direct debit processing bureau. But that does not mean they are not responsible for fraudulent direct debits.
This company took £72 from my account whilst I was away in July.
Contacted my bank as soon as I realised, within two days the money was returned. Again, they had set up a Debit without signatures or any security code But I have had to change my bank card as it was the 16-digit number they used to make the debit.
What I want to know is how they got my details!!!
I have never spoken to this company and only ever contacted Sky directly regarding my satellite. The only insurance I have ever used was offered by Sky themselves costing around £6 a month.
i’ve been having problems with satcover too, had the cover for about 3 years and guess what when you try to ring them all numbers are not available at the present time.

i would personally recommend [REMOVED]. they gave me advice on how to get my money back from sat direct and i called them out the other day and had an engineer the next day he couldnt fix my box so he replaced it with the same model i am very satisfied with there service and there is always a person on the end of the phone not a computer.

We have also been conned… they took £49.99 from our account in Feb 09 and then upped our payments to £6.50 per month instead of the contracted amount of £5.00 per month, then in June they took another £49.99 from our bank account.
We couldnt get through on the phone, message always the same saying this phone is un available, we contacted our bank and they have refunded us through the DD endemnity.
Be aware because if they have your details they can set up another DD with out your permission, this happened to a lady who worked our my bank she was lucky she spotted it quickly, make sure you ask your bank to block them to prevent this.

It looks like I’ve been conned out of £70. Satellite Direct took two payments out of my account in May 2009. I contacted them and was told that they had problems with thier computer and couldny refund my money untill August.
I’m still waiting and not sure if there is anything I can do about it.
Any advice would be welcome.

I have read with interest the comments above and will now add mine. Forget the new web site and company name. I have just received a letter saying that they are now(www.one4group.co.uk) Well I cannot find it. I found this one by chance. Forget trying to phne. You call the NEW call centre hang on for ages and when you are transferred you are promptly cut off. My next course of action is a snottagram. I shall also be speaking to my bank to stop ALL PAYMENTS with immediate effect. We have been trying to contact them since June. It all makes sense now.
