I just got another call from Satellite Direct UK telling me that my Sky warranty needs renewing. Oddly enough, nothing has changed since their last call. We are still registered with the TPS so it’s unlawful for them to phone us and we still don’t have a Sky box, so it’s definitely not out of it’s warranty period, which they again suggested. Satellite Direct UK you are not morons: stop ignoring the TPS.
Update: Looks like we’re not the only recipients of their unwanted sales calls: Longrider (also called twice) points out a host of others.
Update: Satellite Direct UK’s business practices have subsequently been successfully challenged in the High Court by BSkyB.
Update 2008/03/10: Satellite Direct UK are investigated by BBC Watchdog (it’s available on iPlayer for 1 week after broadcast).
Update 2008/07/05: The director of Satellite Direct UK appears to have been charged with fraud and money laundering.

satellite assured number is 08700600250. i’ve got cover with them, and they seem legit enough, i needed to call them out just over a month ago, was bit annoyed it took them 3days to come and replace it, but was well worth it as they gave a much better digi box and they also gave me a new remote because ours was gettin tatty. the call centre operators are also very helpful and understanding. All in all the service i received wasn’t too bad

I’ve tried to contact Satellie Assured (ugh!!). They have an address at:
Unit 5 New Barn Vinnetron Business Park, Vinnetron Road, Chichester, PO20 1QH.
I found this on their website, although I think its pointless writing to them.

Just noticed on our bank a/c statement a debit (paid by card or over internet) of £50 to this company from our account. Rang our bank & they said transaction was at 2.30 AM yes AM while we were asleep. My wife and I did not authorise this debit and the bank are chasing a refund for us. If this is the type of tactics they use to renew their annual agreement wth us then it will be the last time !! We have cancelled the card used and will ignore any future contact with Satellite Direct. I suggest you all keep a watchful eye on your bank statements and how you set up your agreement in the first place. BEWARE

This is without a doubt the most annoying, harrassing and irritating company with which I have ever come into contact. They have contacted me on my mobile at least eight times, written to me at least 10 times and called my landline a couple of times. During each phone contact I calmly told them to remove my contact details. I also asked to speak to a manager as I don’t like shouting at CSRs (it’s not their fault). But of course none are ever available. However I eventually had a real go and they told me that I’d been taken off their list. I doubt I have been and just wait until next week when i get two more letters. I’ve been trying to find the names of their directors or CEO but I can’t find them anywhere. If anyone can tell me I’d be very grateful.

I was duped by this company in March 2007 in exactly the same way as stated beforehand re “conning the customer by insinuating they were the company Sky” I would like to know if there is any way of recovering my money from this company for the past 4 payments for non-exsitant warranty cover or where to go to report them to the authorities.
Yours sincerely,
Alfie Carenduff

I have tried to obtain a refund from Satellite Direct without success. I wrote to them 18 months after after leaving Sky because I can no longer afford the system. In May this year they took £65 from my credit card - can I get the money back, of course not. Can anyone help a poor OAP get justice?

It seems to me that Satellite Direct is being blamed for (Satellite Assured)most of the time by many of you. My father In law took out a maintenance contract or whatever else you would like to call it with Satellite Direct at the start of this year. He had previously been with Sky who took 3days to come to them when something went wrong last year. Since taking out the cover he has had to call them out twice and both times the phoe was answered quickly and an engineer was there the same day. The first time he had his Sky plus box replaced and the second time the television had broken. The engineer on that visit even moved their television from another room and set it up for them. What a great service and I can only praise them for the way they treated my in laws who are both in their 80s. I am also on TPS and have been conatcted by Satellite direct and YES I did take a policy out with them and also had to call them out and also received a visit teh same day and also had my Sky plus box replaced there and then as it had developed a fault. I think a company that has a customer base of over 600,000(Not my figures but stated by an employee I believe) can not be that bad and by personal experience I can only recommend them.

You seem to have been lucky and they may well be able to support your claim, but the main theme of this blog is that Satellite Asured and Satellite Direct have unlawfully pretended to be Sky(see earlier blogs) which leads to trusting people giving their private details to these companies and then they take money from them as and when.

I had a call from Satellite Assured last year telling me that Sky had changed their Warranty Supplier. I was a bit puzzled because we’d only just paid our warranty to Sky, which is through Domestic & General (and always has been). Now I’ve had a letter teling me that I’m liable for my last missing payment (I’ve never paid them any money , nor do I have any warranty set up with them. The bank can’t find a trace of any direct debit ever being set up with this company, and although I’ve tried to ring them a second time the line just goes dead. Satellite Assured is not the same as Satellite Direct.
