Phone Spam from Satellite Direct UK

I just got another call from Satellite Direct UK telling me that my Sky warranty needs renewing. Oddly enough, nothing has changed since their last call. We are still registered with the TPS so it’s unlawful for them to phone us and we still don’t have a Sky box, so it’s definitely not out of it’s warranty period, which they again suggested. Satellite Direct UK you are not morons: stop ignoring the TPS.
Update: Looks like we’re not the only recipients of their unwanted sales calls: Longrider (also called twice) points out a host of others.
Update: Satellite Direct UK’s business practices have subsequently been successfully challenged in the High Court by BSkyB.
Update 2008/03/10: Satellite Direct UK are investigated by BBC Watchdog (it’s available on iPlayer for 1 week after broadcast).
Update 2008/07/05: The director of Satellite Direct UK appears to have been charged with fraud and money laundering.

How did you know that unless you phoned them. Why would you phone them if you were sure Satellite Assured number is 08700600250. I spoke to so called Satellite Repair you mention above and they said they were Satellite Assured when I asked. I also found this

The addresses are all only 6 miles apart and the websites look the same I think they are all part of the same company/scam Satellite Assured.

satellite direct are a cheating,lieing and conning company.over two years ago i had cancelled in writing a insurance policy for sky box .this month they decided themselves to steal 8o.oo pounds out of my account i rang them up after obtaining there details from my bank and they asked me to send them a e mail which i did and had to chase chase and chase for a response i finally got a call to be told that i will not not be refunded as they did not recieve my letter of cancelletion in 2005. so i asked why it took them two years to take money from my account of which no authority was given .the woman that called me replied no refund will be give .any ideas guys?

I sent a cheque to Sattelite services for £95.99 on the 15/6/2007 for extended warranty cover to Sky +. The application form came in a white envelope with the SKY logo
shown. Having trouble with my +box, i contacted Sky & D.G. to be told i had no cover.What can i do now? Being a pensioner not much.

satellite direct have now got a new company called play t.v its a subscription channel, now there trying to con people with these stupid play t.v boxes i would advise any one being contacted by play t.v just hang up don’t speak to them cause they just trying to con people again with this stupid idea. satellite direct has gone down the toilet so they thought they’d give play t.v a go and start a fresh with a new product and new company name so beware every body.

Hi Parv, my partner recently had £80 taken from his account by SATCOV also without his authorisation. What you need to do is call your bank and they HAVE to refund the money to your bank asap as the DD was set up without your permission. Once they have refunded the money to your account, they will then contact this appauling company to aquire the money they used to refund you with.
This appears to be a very commen problem at the moment, and I think that contacting WATCHDOG is a very good idea. I’m pretty sure that if you have, and I have - at least another thousand will have :D

Just checked the Sky website and confirmed by phone, the only firm Sky recomend is domestic & general, they say avoid satalite direct as they will replace a faulty box but with a recon.

I have had £6 initial payment and then £72 taken out of my account without my permission this week by Sat Cover and when I contacted my bank they said there was nothing they could do and even if I cancelled the direct debit set up, David Reynolds would still be able to set up another direct debit and the only way out was to open another bank account.Surely there has to be another way out?How can this man be allowed to con people and get their bank details?Please has anyone got Watchdog’s details?

I am having a lot of trouble with a company called Satellite
Assured. They phoned last year to tell me my Sky insurance
needed renewing and I agreed because I thought they was from
Sky. It was only when Sky contacted me about renewing, I knew
I had been conned. My bank informed me they were trying to take
another £65.00 this year and I told them not to authorise it.
Satellite Assured sent me a horrible letter (for which I had to
pay postage) about non payment. I phoned the company only to be
spoken to very abusively and threateningly. Has anybody else had problems with this company?

I also have had problems with Satellite Assured. They conned me in the same way and when I complained they were abusive and said that I could not cancel for 12 months. I sent 2 letters by registered post, both returned (not known at this address). The addresses were taken off he warrenty certificate that they sent in the first place. I complained to Trading Standards about them. The BBC are going to do a programme about Satellite mis-selling and I am sure that the name Satellite Assured will feature.
