Phone Spam from Satellite Direct UK

I just got another call from Satellite Direct UK telling me that my Sky warranty needs renewing. Oddly enough, nothing has changed since their last call. We are still registered with the TPS so it’s unlawful for them to phone us and we still don’t have a Sky box, so it’s definitely not out of it’s warranty period, which they again suggested. Satellite Direct UK you are not morons: stop ignoring the TPS.

Update: Looks like we’re not the only recipients of their unwanted sales calls: Longrider (also called twice) points out a host of others.

Update: Satellite Direct UK’s business practices have subsequently been successfully challenged in the High Court by BSkyB.

Update 2008/03/10: Satellite Direct UK are investigated by BBC Watchdog (it’s available on iPlayer for 1 week after broadcast).

    Hi,
This company Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd are still at it, last year they sent me an URGENT NOTICE about renewal, by then I had already fallen out with Sky, so I told company to remove my details from their records.

A few days ago, same letter arrived, spoke to them, they were not overhelpful, so sent a recorded delivery letter stating they were in breach of Data Protection Act etc etc.

Today got an email via an old email address that has been dormant for about 4 years , and it had a quote for insurance attached.

Have spoken with ins co. and it appears they must be a bit narked at my threat of legal action, Ins co are tracing I.P. address to confirm who sender was, perhaps Sky might like to take them to court again.

My wife took out an “insurance” with Satellite Direct in May 2007 paying by direct debit £8 per month. Our Sky+ system has been faulty for a few days so I phoned them on 20th Nov 2007 on 08702 245777 and was told to reboot the system. The problem was still there so I phoned again on 22nd November 2007 and an engineer came out on 23rd and said I needed a new Sky+ box but he was out of stock until Monday 26th when he would collect a new consignment and fit the new box on Monday.By 3.15pm he had not arrived so I phoned the office who told me the engineer should have contacted me and they would contact him and get him to ring me.Fortunately I had the mobile number of the engineer so I rang him.He told me that the new boxes had not arrived but he now expected them on Wed or Thursday this week.Has anyone ever had a replacement box from Sat Link or Satellte Direct whatever they now call themselves?

This was given to me by Mr Scovell of the Trading Standards in West Sussex.
They have had to come out of hiding ,no company number no Vat no credit card company. What a pathetic attempt at a Web-Site Still we all know where they are now, no nearer getting my parents money back and she is still getting calls asking for £20 admin fee and they will call off the debt collectors off.B******S

Satellite Direct have changed their name so many times it is unbelieveable, why?
Because they have been taken to court several times by sky and have had to stop
trading under previous names such as Satcover, Subscriber Services etc. The MD
David Reynolds is nothing but a crook, as are associated companies, Satellite
Assured, Nationwide Digital Services, South Coast Services, Fully Covered, Sat
Link, which David Reynolds also co-owns. These companies are set up to make money in the short term and then closed down, they are not at all regulated by the FSA, so it
would appear that they can just carry on getting away with there scams. Satellite
Direct have recently started selling non existent digital boxes under the name of
Play T.V - they started selling these in June/July as of yet not a singal digital
box has been installed. As previously stated by other people all your details
eg credit card numbers d/d info is infact all on paper stored in what can only be described as an old boiler room. Do not take out a so called ‘policy’ with these crooks
    they make me sick.

It takes a long time but the net seems to be closing in on all the above mentioned .What is scary is they have all got away with it for so long they must be collecting millions .Satellite Assured is owned by 2 Dutch Companies Sparticus and Hamilton BV (probably Dave Reynolds) and took 3 million pounds last year(£600 from my mother),according to Companies House. For that sort of money he should be locked up.I and others are talking to the authorities weekly and I am sure they are building a case.So keep this info coming.

Yes there still at it, using the name of South Coast Digital Services (SDS) there calling ID number seems to be 0870 2432958, physically based in Yapton / Bognor / Chichester areas. So far I have had 7 calls from them today, on the first occasion they were politely but strongly urged not to call again, which resulted in an immediate hang-up, then followed by the remaining calls as they passed my number around the team for a laugh …

Its worth registering a complaint with “Consumer Direct” on 0845 4040506, whilst it isn’t going to result in any immediate action, they are recording complaints and are well known to the local Trading standards etc.

i am a satellite direct uk customer and am slightly annoyed by this site. the only reason i am commenting at all is because unfortunately this site comes up quite high when you search for them in google and i want people who may end up clicking on here to know that this company has done nothing but help me since i took up an agreement with them two years ago. In this two years i have had my standard box, sky + box and now also my HD box replaced free of charge by them. I have called them on several occasions and have done nothing but provide me with brilliant advice and endearing politeness. they have never charged me for a callout, labour or any of my replacements and i hardly pay anything for this service a month. yes they did cold call me, but to be honest im wise and only gave my bank details over once i checked their originators identification number and took all contact details and tested them. this company proved to me that they are legit and now i would never dream of going back to domestic and general who took 11 days to call me back about my problems and a further 8 days to get me an engineer. people rarely have anything good to say nowadays, im thinking of starting up a blog about how helpful theyve been as i dont see why potential customers should be swayed by this nonense. if your the kind of person who doesnt check things like orignator numbers before handing over your bank details, it is the 21st century after all, then perhaps you have only yourselves and your stupidity/naivety to blame.

SatSupport I think is a new one. Based in West Sussex. Got a call today, (forwarded from when they phoned my mum back at her address), offering £5 a month. As our Satellite is currently buggered I was all eagre, thinking they got forwarded some info from my recent Sky tech support call, and that was the reason they were calling, so I could get it all sorted quickly.

Had a look around, saw all this, phoned back, mentioned TPS, they said they’ve cancelled it all as a result. Just to be sure I phoned my bank and got them to block any Direct Debits. (Well, they’ve made a note on my account) so that if they still try to set one up, I can phone up and cancel it immediately.

    Here’s hoping.

I worked for Satellite Direct for a short time, and couldn’t believe the sort of things they were getting away with, pretending to be companies that customers were already covered by??? some people were activley encouraged to lie to people on the phone-its a disgrace! We didn’t even have computers so everything was on paper - surely thats not
secure!? This is the worst place I have ever worked in my life and cannot believe that they haven’t been shut down once and for all! To add to that they hardly ever paid us on time, so I don’t know wether they are in financial trouble? I would not advise anyone to do business with this company and if you already have cancel your direct debit because your ‘policy’ is not worth the paper it is written on!!!
