It’s as razor sharp as any of his previous books & TV shows, and stunningly diverse because each policy was suggested and voted on by the general public in shows all over the country last year. I was at the Newbury gig. It was very funny. Definitely a present to consider for all thinking carbon based life forms in your vicinity.

We’re looking for books from the 1800′s and 1900′s, from anywhere in the world – all countries, all cultures.

Any hints or tips on where we might be able to unearth a cache of old recipies and knowledge, or, if anyone reads this and finds themselves in the position of being able to donate old recipe books that are just gathering dust, we promise to put them to good use!

Please note that we’re not interested in buying books, we’re on a mission to share the knowledge therein for the good of the many, we’re not collectors!

Penguin Books have come up with a rather neat little hook to get people off their iPods and curled up with a book, an open fire, and a comforting mug of brownian motion this winter; they’ve started a regular podcast in which they hope to include the latest news and extracts from Penguin Books.

What a terribly good idea. The first release is not without technical quirks – e.g. the volume varies widely between the articles and the incidental discussion – but all in all, the venture is to be applauded.

It’s been picked up by boingboing, so it’s likely to be very highly subscribed.

There’s an accompanying blog which is also very neatly designed, the only missing bit at the moment is the capability to trackback.

Herein are techniques which once mastered can be reused in any language throughout your career as a Software Engineer.
