Wedding

My wife and I… are pleased to report that we have returned safely from a wonderful honeymoon in Devon and are drifting gently back down to earth after Thursday’s party and the long weekend of reverie.

Thanks to everyone who made the big day such a success…

  • The florist, Joanne King, who listened to our uninformed meanderings about colours and shapes and turned that into a magnificent floral display.
  • The driver, John Pike, who supplied the coolest wedding car we’ve ever seen and who timed the arrival of the bride perfectly.
  • Katie, Julie & co at Marwell Hall for making the venue second to none.
  • The Chris Walker Swingtet, who swung, brilliantly, and managed to play all the important requests including ‘Bring Me Sunshine’.
  • Dahlia, Rachel, Joe and everyone else at Marwell Hotel for making everything appear to run so smoothly when they were probably working hard.
  • Groom’s Mum for the welsh cakes.
  • Jo Breeze for reading during the ceremony.
  • The photographer, Kaspar Gobell, for delivering exactly what he promised, a photographer who we barely noticed, with the capability of taking formal portraits and also mingling for intimate informal shots throughout. Anyone looking for a photographer who can be relied upon to capture an un-repeatable event could do a lot worse than calling Kaspar on 01590 676 944
  • Lucinda and Janet the registrars, for giving the ceremony both gravity and good humour.
  • Hugh Harris formal hire for making the suit hire a thing of ease and pleasure (after we’d been everywhere else we wish we’d found them first)
  • Zoe from Foxy Lady for doing all the ladies hair.
  • Band of Gold Bridal House, for friendliness, time, expertise, and fantastic fitting rooms – basically for making Em look fantastic on the big day.
  • Charlie for looking after the Groom (and Kate for looking after Charlie and the flowers)
  • Ali & Alex for the Welsh blessing.
  • Jon, Steve and Karen for capturing everything on video.
  • Tim and Caroline for the stag night and organisational suggestions (see Salty Monk).
  • Andy and Annette at The Salty Monk for doing superb food and rooms – we’ll be back
  • Jo and Lily for being cute in photos.
  • Geth for providing all the music that the DJ didn’t have.
  • Mark and Debs for collecting the penguin suits.
  • Parents for financial & emotional input – and for letting us do what we wanted – we think it worked out about right :)

Finally, thanks to all the guests for coming – it was wonderful to see you all.

Sorry, we don’t have a copy of the Welsh blessing because it was recited and translated on-the-fly.
